Monitoring the stages in building a team
Methods of monitoring
- Observation
You can observe your team by looking at what they are doing after giving them a task to see how they get on with it. But some team members might feel a bit uncomfortable because of the pressure of you observing them so that might distract them. But some team members might feel like they have a need to show off what they are capable of so that you will take more notice of them.
- Self Assessment
You can give out a questionnaire to all your team members to fill in about how they think feel about the team and if they are working hard enough. But your team members might answer in biased ways so the results won't be reliable.
- Regular Reviews
This is the most common way of monitoring your team because you would meet up with each of them to see how they are doing and to check on any problems they might be having.
- Intelligence Gathering
Intelligence gathering is basically spying on your team or asking other team members to spy on other team members to see if they are working to achieve their goal or are they just procrastinating. But this may cause arguments and conflict because if other team members find out that they are being spied on, they might feel offended.
