Belbin's Theory
Dr. R Meredith Belbin is a british researcher and he has discovered nine roles to make a team work efficently and effectively. These nine roles include plants, monitor evaluators, coodrinator, team worker, resource investigator, shaper, implenenter and completer finisher. This was discovered in 1981 when he published his book explaining these nine theories.
Plants:
Plants are people who are creative thinkers and is a person who is full of ideas and inspiration. These people also have lots of imagination and thinks outside of the
box because that is where all the unseen and hidden talents are found. They aren’t that interested in working in a team, but when they are left alone to ponder on their own thoughts, they are more creative.
Monitor Evaluators:
Monitor Evaluators are people who are good judges of situations and they always have an overview of what is happening in the team. They look at the strengths and weaknesses in a situation and they are impartial. They often assess and analyse the ideas that are brought by the plants, looking at the pros and cons of them before making the decision of whether they should go forward with it.
Coordinator:
A coordinator is a person who is the chairman of the group. They make the decision of who does what in the group and this is a strong leadership role because, they are the ones who tell the team members what their objectives are and guide them along to achieve them. They also evaluate the different skills that each individual has to see what group each of them should be in, in order to increase productivity and to make sure that everyone is having a good relationship with each other.
Team worker:
A team worker is a person who works well with other people. They will support and encourage others to work together in harmony. They are responsible for negotiations because they have an opened mind and they are flexible towards any ideas made.
Resource Investigator:
A resource investigator is a person who is very enthusiastic. They are the type of people who would reach out to other people, make contacts and find out about the different things that they need for the team. They are great communicators and they enjoy researching and new tasks whenever they get one.
Shaper:
A shaper is a person who keeps everyone together and gets everyone focused on their task ahead. They will always find the best method to solve their problems and issues. They also put pressure on team members to keep the momentum of the work which then causes a lot of arguments because other team members might feel offended by them.
Implementers:
Implementers are efficient people who turns any ideas that are made and takes it into action. They are very organised and they are very reliable because they always get their work done. But sometimes they may not accept new ideas.
Completer Finisher:
Completer Finisher is a person who is always keeping an eye on the deadline and makes sure that they finish the task before that. They are always producing work at their highest quality because achieving goals to their best standards are important to them. They also evaluate other people’s work to see if it’s at their best and to see if there are any room for improvement.

Estimate
I thought I was a team worker because, i like working in a team, you get so much done easily. I also tend to have a lot of pressure, trying to make things perfect when working alone and work a lot, i like to socialise and work together because, it has a lot of benefits. I could also be a plant because, I'm a very creative person and I can have a very different perspective that could come in helpful some time.
Results
As you can see, I got a high score as a coordinator. I never really expected this but, I can see how this would lean towards a team worker. As a coordinator, you would need to be in a group and lead the others, like i said I like to make things perfect and I get really pressured if we do something wrong so, I would correct their mistakes or add on information they have missed. This could go well with plant as well because, as the leader, everyone follows you so I can use my thoughts and share it to my team mates.
